Wilmer L. “Larry” Sears, age 85, of Bolivar, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, in Hattie’s House at the Hennis Care Center in Bolivar.

He was born to the late Walter and Locie (Miller) Sears. Larry was a 1958 graduate of Dover High School. Shortly after graduation, he honorably served our country in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962, stationed in both Nebraska and Guam. He later built a long and dedicated career as a truck driver at Baker Highway and Roadway for 38 years.

On April 6, 1963, Larry married Beverly A. “Bev”. They shared many years until her passing on September 8, 2024. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Fred, Doyle (Mary), Rosalie (Lavern), Dillon, Burl, James, and an infant sister.

Larry was an active member of several organizations throughout his life. He was a member of Dover First Moravian Church, Pinehill Hunt Club, and Tuscarawas County #59 F & AM of Dover. He served as the Past District Deputy Grand Master (PDDGM) for the 21st Masonic District. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Valley of Canton, where he was honored with the Meritorious Service Award (MSA) for dedicated service. He was also a member of the Tadmore Shrine of Canton.

Larry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his loyalty to family and friends, and his commitment to the organizations and community he served.

Larry leaves behind his children; Kenney Sears of Bolivar, Roger (Jane Ann) Sears of Sugarcreek, and Lorna (Shane) Ross of Ashland; his grandchildren, Nicholas Sears of Pinson, Tennessee, Sarah (Ryan) Chapman of Athens, PA, John and Andrew Sears of Sugarcreek, Delaney and Mitchell Ross of Ashland, and Samantha Natoli of Cadiz; his sister, Lenore Herron of New Philadelphia, Ohio; sisters in law, Darlene Sears, Mary Lee Sears, Shirley Ball; brother in-law, Bill (Sara) Needs; along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Dover First Moravian Church, 319 N. Walnut St., Dover, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 am. Following the service, a meal will be served in the church social hall. A Masonic service will take place before the meal.
