William A. “Bill” Levengood, 80, of Strasburg passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Aultman Hospital in Canton. He was born in Dover on May 14, 1943 to the late William E. and Wilma Jarvis Levengood. Bill was also preceded in death by his sister, Toni May.
His dedication to athletics was evident from a young age when he became a part of the inaugural Dover Basketeers team. Throughout his high school years, Bill's love for sports continued to shine brightly as he excelled in football for the Tornadoes, where he played guard and was a co-captain. Bill was a graduate of Dover High School class of 1961. He furthered his academic pursuits by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from Grove City College in 1965 and went on to receive a master's degree from Midwestern University in 1970. He proudly served his country with the United States Air Force before embarking on a successful career path. Bill was known as the owner and operator of Levco Striping Service in Strasburg since 1990. Prior to that, he had gained valuable experience working for JI Case Construction Equipment in Texas for many years.
In his personal life, Bill found joy and companionship with his wife of 45 years, Sharon Witt Levengood. Their union on May 28, 1978, was the foundation of a beautiful family. Bill will be deeply missed by his children: Reese (Jennifer) Levengood of Arizona, Andy (Lauren) Levengood of Texas, as well as Mike (Allison) Witt of Tennessee, Trisha (Doug) Jones of Texas, Chris (Sheila) Witt of Dover. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg with Pastor Jason Rissler officiating. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
