William “Ray” Burrows, 70, of Sherrodsville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026 from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.
Ray was born on February 20, 1956 in Dover, Ohio, and grew up in Leesville, Ohio. He graduated from Conotton Valley High School in 1973. Shortly afterward, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1973 to 1976 and attaining the rank of Corporal (E-4). During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Rifle Expert Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Canton AMVETS.
Ray worked as a truck driver and as a diesel and heavy-equipment mechanic. There was virtually nothing he could not fix. Friends and neighbors knew they could bring him anything broken and he would get it running again. He took particular pleasure in buying damaged items, restoring them, and reselling them, always approaching every project with meticulous attention to detail and thoroughness. In his spare time, Ray pursued many interests. He excelled at horticulture and was especially proud of the many tomatoes he grew. He enjoyed UAV piloting and building custom and refurbished drones. He also made a hobby of treasure-hunting on eBay and Facebook Marketplace. Ever the outdoorsman, he loved kayaking, biking, and exploring with his German Shepherd, Duke.
Ray is survived by his wife of 43 years, Tammy Burrows; daughters, Amanda (Dan) Fantine and Lacey (Travis) Baker; sons, Adam Burrows, Dalton Burrows (girlfriend Brooke Augustine), and Garrett (Emily) Burrows; grandchildren, Amelia Fantine, Logan Baker, Rory Fantine, Walker Burrows, Lillian Baker, Magnolia Fantine, Carter Burrows, and Robert Augustine; mother- and father-in-law, Carolyn and Denny Jones; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Housel Burrows; his sister, Helen Simpson; and his brothers Randall Burrows and Gary Burrows.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
