Wilbert S. “Wil” Abel, age 78, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 12, 2021, in his home.

Born November 4, 1942, in Mineral City, he was a son of the late Clarence E. and Estella B. Russell Abel. Wil graduated from Tuscarawas Valley High School in 1960, and was employed as a custodian at New Cumberland Elementary School for 30 years until it was closed in 2008. He enjoyed visiting with his family, walking in his neighborhood, listening to music, having coffee at the Circle K and lunch at the Salvation Army. Will was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone.

He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Christina and Laura Abel, Holly (Michael) Jones, Autumn, Willow (Paul Miller), Echo and Miracle Abel; his grandchildren, Cyrelle, Dryden, Valen, Jensen, Kaity and Kiley; his siblings, Leroy (Betty) and Don Abel, and Debbie; his nieces and nephews; and his many friends and other loved ones.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Landon Abel, this past April; and his siblings, Bertha, Clarence Jr. and John Abel.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Sunday, January 17, 2 - 4 p.m. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, masks must be worn at all times in the funeral home and social distancing must be observed.
