Virgino “Gino” “Beck” Amistadi Jr, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home on October 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and many devoted caregivers.
Born on March 13, 1946, in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of the late Virgino and Theora (Stauffer) Amistadi. Gino was a man who lived life with purpose, compassion, and a warm smile that welcomed everyone he met. He was the kind of man who could fix just about anything — a self-employed mechanic with a gift for tinkering, solving problems, and lending a helping hand.
In addition to running his own shop, Gino also proudly worked for the local township. He never hesitated to lend a tool, offer advice, or jump in when someone needed help. Gino never met a stranger — every person he encountered became a friend.
On August 10, 1974, Gino married the love of his life, Mary Doll. Together they shared over 50 years of love and partnership, including more than 26 years running a booth at the Walnut Creek Antique Mall, where they formed countless friendships and shared their passion for vintage treasures.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he leaves behind his sister, Virginia Kirkman of Dover, and many wonderful nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews, who were his support system.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Nancy (Dave) DeVore, Oliva (Andy) Ruszin, and his brother-in-law, Eugene Kirkman.
Gino had a deep love for animals, especially cats, and was known to care for more than a few over the years. Gino developed a lifelong love of auto racing after his father began taking him to the track at a young age, sparking a passion that never left him.
Even in his final days, Gino's spirit never dimmed. He faced illness with incredible strength, humor, and an unwaveringly positive attitude. He often said that people were the best medicine — a belief he lived out daily through his connections and conversations with others.
A memorial gathering will be held at the family home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. To sign an online guestbook for Gino, visit the obituary link on the funeral home’s website.
Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, The Aultman Hospice Foundation, 2600 Sixth Street SW, Canton, OH 44710, or to the Salvation Army, 809 Emmet Ave NW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
