Verlon L. Dyer, 77, of Country Club Retirement Center, Dover, and a former resident of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, in Affinity Medical Center, Massillon.
Born Dec. 31, 1932, in Pikeville, TN, he was a son of the late Homer and Mary Price Dyer. Verlon attended school in Pikeville and moved to Michigan as a young man, where he was employed by Briggs Manufacturing in Detroit. He later worked for the Edmont-Wilson Co. and Danner Press, both of Canton.
Survivors include three brothers, Dennis Dyer of Dallas, TX, J.C. Dyer of Chattanooga, TN, and O'Dell (Grace) Dyer of Crossville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Verlon was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Dyer.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, at 2:30 p.m., in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia, with Rev. Kelly Paul Brown of Otterbein United Methodist Church officiating.
