Tony A. Smitley

Tony A. Smitley, age 62, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in the Astoria Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Canton.

Born October 3, 1961, in Dover, he was a son of the late Delbert E. and Nancy I. (Streeter) Smitley. Tony attended Lakeland Schools in Harrison County, and was later employed in the oil drilling industry, by Kimble Companies, Dover, and by Case Farms, Winesburg. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Dover, and enjoyed following all sports, but especially football.

Tony is survived by his brother, Tom (Lori) Smitley of Uhrichsvbille, and his sister, Tammy (Bill) Shew of Lenoir, North Carolina; and his nieces and nephews, including Christopher Smitley.

Besides his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brothers, Todd, Travis and Terry Lee Smitley.

Honoring Tony’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral ceremony.
