Timothy S. Goodnight

Timothy S. Goodnight, age 66, of Bolivar, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 following a brief period of declining health.

Tim was born on July 17, 1959, in Orrville, to the late Henry and Clarissa (Strickling) Goodnight. After graduating from Tuslaw in 1977, Tim went on to be a metalologist for Timken Steel, working in the met lab. He retired in 2018 after nearly 47 years of service to the company.

He was an Ohio State fan, and a true lover of all music, from Elvis to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. No matter the music genre, Tim enjoyed going to concerts, where he instantly turned strangers into friends. His outgoing and welcoming personality always made those around him feel included. He was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy and loved to make people laugh. He was a bright light that people always wanted to be around, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Tim is survived by his wife, Jane (McClain) Goodnight, whom he married on August 1, 1988; his children, Jennifer (Jon) Wilson, Thomas Goodnight, and Dean Goodnight; grandchildren, Jordan (Kinzy) Swiger, Andrea (fiance, Jacob Lisic) Johnson, and Ashton Wilson; and siblings, Robin (John) Parks and Judy Messenger.

In addition to his parents, Tim is preceded in death by his sister, Anita Jo Goodnight, and brother, Mitchell Goodnight.

Services honoring Tim’s life will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Strasburg. Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, with a service beginning at 3:00 officiated by James Cooper. Following the service, a meal will be served at the funeral home’s reception facility.
