Thiery A. (Kemp) Maurer, 81, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Amberwood Manor in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Born on November 10, 1944, in Magnolia, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ned and Bettie (Burkett) Kemp. Thiery was a graduate of Sandy Valley High School, Class of 1962.
She dedicated much of her professional life to serving others through her work. Thiery was employed by Ohio Power for 31 years as a secretary before continuing her career with the Timken Company, where she worked for 15 years until her retirement.
On May 31, 1968, she married the love of her life, Larry Dean Maurer, who preceded her in death on May 28, 2023.
Thiery was a talented homemaker who found joy in cooking, sewing, and needlework. She had a special love for animals and opened her heart and home to many strays throughout the years, providing them with care and compassion.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Cairo. Thiery had a brother, Ned Joel Kemp, and his whereabouts are unknown.
She is survived by her step-daughter, Jill Punches of Portland, Oregon; her cousin, Dick Burkett in Santa Barbara, California; and her nephews, Matthew and Michael McElroy.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A memorial service will take place in August.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society.
