Terry Paul Jones, of Dover, Ohio, passed away on October 28, 2026. Born on July 31, 1943, Terry lived a life defined by his devotion to family, his commitment to his community, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.
Terry was the son of the late Paul and Mary Louise Jones and the brother of Penelope Clark. He was the beloved husband of Margaret "Margie" Early Jones, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Terry's love for Margie was evident in the way he cared for her, always making sure she was looked after and waited on hand and foot. His devotion to his wife was a beautiful reflection of the love and partnership they shared throughout their life together.
Terry was a proud father to Tim (Cheryl), Meg Wiandt (Mike), Thom (Debbie), Ted (Jennifer), and Jenny (Darrell). His family continued to grow through his 16 grandchildren-Drew, Katie, Jennah, Madeline (Dallas), Allyson, Emma, Jack, Anne, Jake, Matt, Malu, Manoh, Abby, Joey, and Luke-and his three great-grandchildren, Aurora, Gio, and Nash, who brought him so much joy.
A proud graduate of Dover High School's Class of 1961, Terry continued his education at Malone University, earning his bachelor's degree, before completing his master's degree at Xavier University. He dedicated part of his career to education, teaching at Tusky Valley and Newcomerstown. His commitment to serving others continued into nursing home administration at Valley Manor before he eventually embarked on a new venture, founding his own mining business, Orchard Mining.
Terry believed in giving back to the community that had given him so much. He was actively involved in Dover youth baseball, where he coached all of his sons alongside one of his best friends, Bill Andreas. Those years on the baseball field created lasting memories and reflected Terry's love of sports, friendship, and helping young people grow. He also served on the Dover Board of Education, acting as president in the early 1980s, further demonstrating his dedication to the community and its future.
While Terry accomplished much throughout his professional and community life, some of his most treasured memories were made at home, surrounded by family. His grandchildren will always remember the legendary cousin sleepovers at the Jones house, when the home would be filled with double-digit numbers of kids-half cousins and half friends of cousins. Everyone was welcome, and everyone knew what was on the menu: Terry's famous "chicken on the bone!!"
Cremation has been entrusted with the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover.
