Shirley A. Jones

Shirley A. Jones, age 89, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in Dover’s Park Village Health Care Center.

Born December 29, 1934, in Gnadenhutten, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Bernice Uhrich Dichler. Shirley graduated from Gnadenhutten High School in 1953, and was employed by Tusco Display in Gnadenhutten from which she retired after 40 years of service. She married Donald O. Jones on June 27, 1971; the couple shared 38 years of marriage prior to Donald’s passing on June 15, 2009. 

Shirley was a member of the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends, and particularly liked monthly lunches with her former classmates from school.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Bonnie Richardson; her brother-in-law, William (Marlene) Jones; her niece and nephew, Tracy (Cassidy) Hochstetler and Doug (Trish) Jones; her great-niece and great-nephews, Sara (Byron Barnes) Welsh, Sean Welsh, Zachary Weindensaul and Jason Jones.

Cremation is in the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery, and will be announced.
