Loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, Sandra Ripley Zeimer, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and formerly of Dover, Ohio, passed away on Monday January 18 at the age of 83.
She was born to the late Earl Ripley and Helen Blacka Ripley on January 4, 1938 at Union hospital in Dover, Ohio. She grew up in New Philadelphia Ohio, attending the public schools, and graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1956. She graduated from Kent State University with a degree in art education in 1960 and began teaching art and physical education at the elementary level for the North Olmsted, Ohio system.
She married Dale Zeimer of Dennison, Ohio on July 20, 1963 and had two sons, Eric and Michael. During their 57 years of marriage, they lived in five states and travelled to all 50 states except for Hawaii and Kansas. They also, travelled to Europe and lived in Germany for several years.
Along the way, Sandra worked as a floral designer in Wilton, Connecticut and Vienna, Virginia and worked in retail. For a period of time she also owned her own business painting children’s murals. In addition, she volunteered for many things, including her sons’ schools, holding various offices in her church and at New Dawn Retirement Center in Dover for 20 years.
Sandra loved to read and garden and was a great cook. She was also a talented painter, especially with water colors, and touched the hearts of many with gifts of hand painted birthday cards.
Sandra was also a devout Christian and was a member at St. John’s Church of Christ in Dover from 1993-2014 and a member at First United Presbyterian Church in De Pere, Wisconsin from 2014-2021.
Sandra is survived by her devoted husband Dale, her sons Eric (Lisa) and Michael (Patricia), brothers Ray and Bill (Sandy), grandsons Justin (Eftal) and Matthew (Jordan), and many nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to her, and she will be deeply missed.
