Ruth F. White, 87, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House.
Born July 15, 1938, in Mineral City, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Pearl (Lanning) McDonald.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found great joy in caring for her family. She was first married to Richard Harding, who passed away on April 29, 1993. She later married Walter W. White on June 18, 2002; he also preceded her in death on November 6, 2014.
Ruth was a longtime member of the Dover Eagles, where she was well known and loved for her years of service as a cook. She was also a member of the Dover Moose, Bolivar Army-Navy, and the New Philadelphia Elks. She especially enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with her family. She loved her dogs and also enjoyed playing games on her tablet.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Patty) Harding, Karan Sue (Larry) Lance, Tina Baker, Ruth Ann (Jim) Blake, James Lee (Rhonda) Harding, and Garry (Loretta) Harding; her stepchildren, Kenny (Kathleen) White and Daniel White;19 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Verla Markins, Auldean Reidenbach, and Leora Barlock; her brothers, John, Weldon, Donavon, Leonard, and Robert McDonald; her half-brother, Paul Rust; granddaughter, Cristy Harding; great-granddaughter, Neaveah Curly; and her son-in-law, Ron Baker.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 12:00-1:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Wing officiating. Interment will be held at Dover Burial Park.
