Rudolph W. "Rudy" Luthy, aged 91, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice Truman House. Born on July 31, 1934, in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of the late John and Martha (Keller) Luthy.

He married his high school sweetheart, Mary “Darlene” (Wheeler) Luthy, on December 3, 1955. They were married for over 50 years before she preceded him in death on May 3, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Donny, Jack, and Ronny Luthy.

Rudy honorably served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955, a period that not only shaped his character but also instilled in him a profound sense of duty and patriotism that would extend throughout his life. Following his military service, Rudy embarked on a distinguished career in the steel industry, retiring from Greer Steel after over 30 years as an electrician. After his retirement, he continued to apply his skills at Newport Rolling Mill in Uhrichsville for an additional ten years.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Rudy was also a dedicated farmer with a love for John Deere tractors. On hot summer days, he enjoyed baling hay with his children and grandchildren. Teaching his grandchildren to drive tractors just came naturally to him. In his early years, Rudy enjoyed music and formed his own band, Rudy’s Bunch. His voice was the sound of polka music. He was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Stone Creek.

He leaves behind his children, Rudy Luthy of Stone Creek, Brenda Luthy of Stone Creek, and Mark (Lynn) Luthy of Sherrodsville, along with six grandchildren; Jackie Luthy, Alli (David) Thompson, Emily (Craig) Bates, Casey Camburn (companion, Jason), Mark (Kayli) Luthy Jr., Lacey (Samuel) Gribble; great grandchildren, Katlyn, Kaden, Carter, Christian, Camron, Karli, and Cullen Thompson, Dawson and Reid Bates, Melody and Evelynn Camburn, Layla and Raena Evans and an new baby girl Evans expected in February, Eliana Luthy, Winsley, Mavis, Lucas, and Talulah Gribble; along with his companion, Ruth Ann Ray.
