Rosemary Triplett, 88, of Danbury Assisted Living in Massillon, formerly of New Philadelphia, died peacefully with her family at her side Monday, October 12, 2026. Born on April 10, 1938 in Newark, Ohio, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Bernard and Martha (Moats) Gorius. She was crowned prom queen and graduated in 1956 from St. Francis DeSales High School in Newark, Ohio. On August 8, 1959, she married her high school sweetheart Steve Triplett and began a wonderful 54 year marriage blessed with five children, fourteen grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren with three more on the way.
She lived her life totally devoted to her family and her Catholic faith. Steve worked very hard to enable Rosemary to be a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. They sacrificed greatly to ensure their kids could attend Catholic schools and earn college degrees. All of their children returned to Tuscarawas County to raise their families, enabling Grandma “Ro Ro” to be an integral part of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. Rosemary loved Jesus and the Blessed Mother and administered the Corporal Works of Mercy her entire life – driving neighbors and friends to doctor’s appointments, visiting the sick, and providing meals to those in need, among multitudes of other selfless deeds.
Since 1974, Rosemary actively served within the Sacred Heart Catholic community. She worked in the cafeteria of its former school, played the organ at Masses and funerals, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Altar Society and Garden Club. She cherished her many hours in Eucharistic adoration. Steve and Rosemary traveled all over the area watching their children and grandchildren participate in thousands of basketball, baseball, softball, football, track, cross country and volleyball games as well as countless plays and school events. Her greatest joy was preparing meals for her family. She baked legendary chocolate chip cookies, and cooked spaghetti and meatballs that are often imitated but never duplicated.
In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Steve, who passed away in 2013; her sister, Patricia Scott; brothers-in-law, Keith Stierhoff, Tom Triplett, and Richard (Dick) Winters; and sisters-in-law, Carole Stierhoff, Claudia Triplett, Terry Davisson, and Connie Triplett.
Her love and devotion will be greatly missed by her five children; sons Jeff (Jackie) Triplett, Dave (Amy) Triplett and Greg (Jacquie) Triplett all of New Philadelphia and daughters Chris (Jeff) Fondriest of Dover and Patty (Craig) Tolloti of Plain City, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren Kyle and Kendall (Hannah) Triplett, Lauren (Tyrone) Miller, Ryan (Kylie) Fondriest, Sam Fondriest, Jacob (Sarah) Triplett, Bennett (Noah) Triplett, Molly Triplett, Max (Ali) Tolloti, James (Kellie) Tolloti, Jenna (Brendan) Kelley, Reagan, Jackson, and Reese Triplett; ten great grandchildren Zoe, Izzy, and Trip Miller, Addy and Finn Fondriest, Landry Fondriest, Cooper and Lucy Triplett, and Beckham and Julian Tolloti; two brothers Tom (Terry) Gorius of Baltimore, Maryland and Bob (Cindy) Gorius of Zanesville, Ohio; one sister Theresa Winters of Newark, Ohio; two brothers-in-law Kenny Scott of Newark and Newt Triplett of St. Mary’s, Ohio; two sisters-in-law Judy Richardson of Westerville, Ohio and Mary (Joe) Emens of Toledo, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday October 14th from 4 – 7pm at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Rosemary’s cousin – Fr. Ed Keck, will be held on Thursday October 15th at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia.
