Rosemary M. Abel

Sep 14, 1950 — Oct 9, 2026

Dover, Ohio

Rosemary Abel, age 76, passed away on October 9, 2026, at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. She was born on September 14, 1950 in Coshocton to the late Roy and Bertha (née, Cognion) Green.

Rosemary spent many decades working as a home health aide, dedicating much of her life and career to caring for others and helping those who needed it most. While she devoted herself to her work, her greatest role was that of a homemaker and mother. She worked hard to raise her beloved children and took great pride in her family. Rosemary absolutely adored her grandchildren and was always there to lend a hand as her children raised their own families. Her love and support made her a constant presence in their lives.

A wonderful cook, Rosemary enjoyed bringing people together through food and family. She also enjoyed visiting casinos, particularly in Wheeling, West Virginia, as well as Las Vegas and Atlantic City. She especially enjoyed the Queen of Hearts drawings at Shenangins.

Rosemary had a personality that was impossible to forget. She was a true firecracker, known for being fierce, feisty, and full of life. She spoke her mind, brought plenty of character wherever she went, and had a way of making a lasting impression on those she met. To know Rosemary was to love her, and she will be remembered for her strong personality, generous heart, and deep love for her family.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, James Abel; her children, Pamela Norman and Michael (Tiffini) Gaskill; and a special granddaughter whom she loved as her own daughter, Lenay (Jesse) Krantz. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Doug (Cindy) Abel, Lisa Hagey, Monica (Scott) Ervin, Odel (Nonnie) Abel, and Jaemi (Brian) Vransky; her grandchildren, Alyssa (Greg) Ginther, Peirce Norman, Madie Gaskill, and Jo Gaskill; as well as several siblings, step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her former husband, John M. Fox, who was a dedicated and loving father to Pamela and Michael.

Cremation has been planned and entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home. As per Rosemary’s wishes, no service is planned.
