Robert W. "Bill" Loveday, 73, passed away at his home on January 20, 2024.
Born in Dover, Ohio on August 29, 1950, Bill was the son of the late Robert Loveday and Vivian Kohler.
He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1969. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. From 1971 to 1972, Bill served in Vietnam as a truck driver with the esteemed 62nd Transportation Company Orient Express. His service to the nation was characterized by bravery and dedication that will forever be remembered.
Bill was a dedicated and hardworking individual throughout his life. After returning from Vietnam, he embarked on a successful career that spanned over three decades. For 35 years, Bill dedicated his time and skills to Stone Creek Brick until its closure. He then joined Beech Industries in New Philadelphia, where he continued to contribute until his health declined, leading to his retirement in 2013.
Outside of work and military service, Bill had a zest for life and cherished various hobbies and interests. Among them was his love for mowing, where he found solace and took pride in maintaining his lawn using his trusty John Deere tractor. Additionally, he loved vintage cars and owned a prized possession - a 1969 Camaro. He also enjoyed sitting on his front porch enjoying the weather and waiting to see who would stop by next.
On May 13, 1983, he married Tanna (Sineff) Loveday, who survives. He also leaves behind his children; Robert (Tammy) Loveday Jr. of Uhrichsville, Robert (Catherine) Penrod of New Philadelphia, Jessa (Nicole) Loveday of New Philadelphia, Joseph Penrod of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Zac Loveday (fiance, Hailly), Giovanna Penrod (Alex Sprankle), Ava Penrod, Alexis Hidey, and Davetta Hidey; two brothers, Jim (Marsha) Loveday, Dale Loveday; his sisters-in-law, Donna Watkins and Sherry Sineff; his cousins, Woody and Connie Finzer, Bonnie Markle, and a half dozen Carbary cousins; many nieces and nephews; along with his beloved canine companion, Riley.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Tom Watkins, and Robert Sineff.
To honor Bill's memory and bid him a final farewell, visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A memorial service will follow immediately after, starting at 4:00 PM with Pastor Bonnie Grimaldi officiating. The New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors following the service.
