Robert S. "Bob" Houston

Robert S. "Bob" Houston, 64, of Dover passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Born on April 26, 1961 in Dover he was a son of the late Delmar and Joanne Dobbins Houston. Bob was also preceded in death by his wife, April Adkins Houston; sisters, Geraldine Bongiorno, Cindy Houston, Betty Jean Houston; brothers, Bruce and Darryl Houston.

He was the owner and operator of the former real estate company, GAO Ltd. for over 20 years. Known widely for his outgoing personality, Bob had a reputation for never meeting a stranger. His fun-loving nature and great sense of humor made him a friend to many. He had a unique ability to create an atmosphere of warmth wherever he went, leaving an indelible mark on those he encountered. He also had a great passion for buying and selling farm equipment. Throughout his life, Bob embodied the essence of a loving father, with his children being the center of his universe.

Bob is survived by his children, Natasha (James) Beem of Texas, Stephanie Houston of Stow, Bobby Houston, Jimmy Houston, and Eric Houston, all of Dover; grandchildren, Nate, Sophia, and Rory; siblings, Brenda (Scott) Hoskins of Massillon, Linda Raber of Massillon, and Gary Houston of Ravenna.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory.  A service celebrating Bob's life will be held on Thursday, June 5th starting at 6:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at 140 South Bodmer Ave. Strasburg with Rev. David Wing officiating. The family will be greeting friends at the Strasburg funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
