Robert Kenneth “Bob” Gibbs, age 69, of Dover, passed away suddenly on November 3, 2026.
Bob was born on March 29, 1957, to the late Betty (Schumacher) and W. Kenneth Gibbs. A lifelong resident of the area, Bob graduated from Dover High School in 1975 and went on to work in the family business, Dover Motor Car Company, where he served as a certified and specialty mechanic.
Following the closure of Dover Motor Car Company, Bob continued his career at Chuck Nicholson in Dover, where he worked until his retirement.
Cars were more than just a career for Bob; they were a lifelong passion. Over the years, he belonged to numerous classic car clubs and owned well over 50 classic cars. Retirement gave him even more time to enjoy what he loved most: working on vintage cars and trucks, particularly Packards, AMCs, and Hudsons. His extensive knowledge, mechanical expertise, and passion for preserving these classic vehicles made him well known and respected throughout the region and among fellow enthusiasts at car shows.
Bob also had a deep love of music. An accomplished trombone player, he shared his musical talents with several local concert, dance, and theater bands, including the Dominic Greco Band, Jericho Big Band, and Coshocton Community Band. Music was another important part of his life, allowing him to share his talent and passion with others in the community.
Whether he was under the hood of a classic automobile or playing his trombone alongside fellow musicians, Bob found joy in the things he loved. He will be remembered for his knowledge, dedication to his passions, and the lasting connections he made through cars and music.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his life companion, Heather Immel. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his sister, Deborah (David) Kerr, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and his cousins of the Gibbs family.
