Richard L. Penrod

Richard L. Penrod, 68, of New Philadelphia, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Born in Dover on December 4, 1957, he was the son of the late Max and Kathleen Wood Penrod.

Richard retired in 2011 after many years with Flynn Tire in Dover. He enjoyed a straightforward life centered around simple pleasures: fishing, tending his garden (with a particular fondness for growing hot peppers), barbecuing and smoking meats, looking after stray cats, and building an impressive collection of various items over the years.

He is survived by his children, Richard Penrod of Mineral City and Tiffani Penrod of Dover; siblings Gary (Doris) Penrod of Port Washington, Max (Karen) Penrod of Sugarcreek, Betty Green of New Philadelphia, Helen (Howard) Johnson of Dover, and Butch (Carman) Penrod of Florida; grandchildren Trevor Miller, Brittney Stuckey, Leah Poole, Olivia Penrod, and Draven Porter; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Per Richard's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover, with no calling hours or services planned.
