Rebekah S. Dawson

Rebekah S. Dawson, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital.

She was born on July 13, 1974 and was a daughter of Sheila Pearson Dawson and the late Thomas J. “Junior” Dawson. She was also preceded in death by her half brother, Ricky Dawson.

Becky was a woman of deep faith. When health concerns required her to surrender her driver’s license, she continued attending church online without missing a beat. Every day she turned to her well-loved Bible, and on the Sunday she passed, Monday’s devotion was already marked and waiting in the front cover, ready for a new week she would never see. God simply had other plans and called her home. Family and friends were the center of Becky’s world. For the past fifteen years she lived with and cared for her mother. She stayed closely connected to everyone she loved, often checking in several times a day. Her nieces and nephew held a special place in her heart; she delighted in their texts, followed their lives with genuine interest, celebrated every milestone, and kept her phone filled with their photos. Animals always brought her joy. Though her beloved cat had passed years earlier and she chose not to get another pet once her mother began using a walker (out of concern that someone might trip), she still found happiness as a proud “vicarious” dog mom, regularly sharing pictures of her brother’s dog on Facebook. Becky was also a quiet planner. She left behind thoughtful lists of household chores and grocery needs, evidence of a mind that stayed organized and caring until the end. In her free time she found simple pleasures in word searches, movies, reading, coloring, and crafts, small joys that filled her days with peace and purpose.

She is survived by her brothers, John (Connie) Dawson of Georgia, Gary (Laura) Dawson of Massillon; half brother, Jerry (Anna) Dawson of Missouri; nieces and nephews, Sara, Luke, Erin and Anna Dawson.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 5th at 11:00 am in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg with Pastor Louie Pantelis officiating.
