Pauline M. Root Lanzer, 106, of Stone Creek, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover.
Born on October 12, 1919, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Pauline was the daughter of the late Herbert C. and Luella E. M. Pease Root. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1942 and married Kenneth W. Lanzer of Dover, Ohio, on February 15, 1942. The couple moved from East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, to Ohio with their family in 1950. A devoted homemaker, Pauline was a long-time member of Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia, where she actively participated in the ABC Class, taught Sunday School, and served as church librarian for many years. She was also a member of the former Jefferson Grange and remained an alumnae member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She found great joy in reading, gardening, music, and especially in spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was also preceded in death by her former husband, Kenneth Lanzer; sons Robert and Richard Lanzer; an infant son and daughter; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; three brothers; and an infant sister. She is survived by her son, Norman (Pauline) Lanzer of New Philadelphia; daughters, Susan (Arthur) Scott of Stone Creek, Sally Sevier of Canton, and Sandy (Russ) Roth of New Philadelphia; daughters-in-law, Kathy Lanzer of Dover and Pat Newland Lanzer of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Jerusalem Church, with Pastor Tom Hendershot officiating. Interment will follow at St. Jacobs Cemetery in Stone Creek. The family will be greeting friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Arrangements are entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Crossroads Hospice and Park Village, Dover for their wonderful and compassionate care.
