Paul Gordon Von Kaenel

Paul Gordon Von Kaenel, 66, of Strasburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 2, 1957, he was the son of the late Robert Emil and Madge Evelyn (Grimm) Von Kaenel. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rae Ann Squires.

Paul was a 1975 graduate from Strasburg High School. He retired after 35 years as a professional truck driver at Von Kaenel Trucking.

He will be remembered as an easy-going, friendly, kind, patient, and funny guy. He loved his family and enjoyed a good card or chess game. Paul enjoyed music and was a collector of vinyl records. He loved Cleveland sports, Ohio State, and watching golf; especially the Master’s!

He will be missed by his loving wife, Mindi (Cappell) Von Kaenel; his beloved children, Garnet Paul Von Kaenel, Sophia Elizabeth Von Kaenel; his grand-puppy, Willie Nelson Von Kaenel; two brothers, Gary Lee (Barbara Ann) Phillips of Florida, and Robert “Bobby” (Beth) Von Kaenel of Dover; his sister, Janet (Max Ellis) Von Kaenel of Colorado; special friends, Jeff Bott, Johnny Gasperowich, and Lisa Walters; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His family would like to express their appreciation for the care he received over the past two years from Community Hospice. They are especially thankful for the gentle and kind care he received from his long-time caregiver and friend, Sonya Kohler.
