Patricia E. “Pat” Walkosak, age 83, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024, with her loving son and daughter at her side, in Park Village, New Philadelphia.
Born December 24, 1940, in Chillicothe, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Virginia I. (Armstrong) Eby. Pat’s family later moved to Marion where she graduated from Harding High School in 1958. She went on to be trained as an X-ray technician, and, while employed at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, met a young pharmacist, William J. “Bill” Walkosak; the couple were wed on August 25, 1962. In addition to being husband and wife, Bill and Pat were best friends and were a shining example of what a marriage should be. They moved to Dover in 1974. Besides being a mom and homemaker, Pat was employed by several area businesses, including M & M Market and Schwartz-Kline’s Department Store. She also assisted Bill in his work for Anderson Medical Services and served as treasurer for Rainbow Connection, a nonprofit health charity that assists the disadvantaged residents of Tuscarawas County - a cause near and dear to both Pat and Bill’s hearts. She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Dover.
Pat loved playing golf with Bill, and the two were regulars at Dover’s Union Country Club. She was fond of outings for lunch and shopping with her dear friend, Karen Herchler. Pat also enjoyed having her hair and nails done and getting dressed-up for dinner where she always ordered her signature cocktail, a Rob Roy. She was an excellent cook on her own and was known for her mastery of pie crust and her concord grape pie. She treasured her bond with her cat, Gus. Gus would curl up on her lap as Pat savored a bite of dark chocolate and caught up on “The Young and the Restless.”
Pat was always thinking of her family and looking out for others. She will be dearly missed by her children, William John (Traci) Walkosak of Lakewood and Mandy (Ben) Garver of Dover; her grandchildren, Claire Walkosak, Zach Garver and Thomas Walkosak; her half-brother, Dave (Jeanne) Eby; her nieces and nephews; and her much-loved cat, Gus.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill on February 7, 2012.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Monday, August 12, 5 - 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 13, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home; Fr. Jimmy Hatfield will officiate. Burial will be later, following cremation, in Dover Burial Park.
The family would like to acknowledge everyone at Park Village and Traditions Health Hospice for their wonderful care - Thank You So Very Much.
