Patricia J. "Patsy" Cunningham, age 78, was born on May 26, 1947, in Dover, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Norma Rose (Beamer) Sours.
She departed this life on May 27, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Patsy's journey through life was marked by a profound dedication to her work, her community, and her family.
Patsy graduated from Midvale High School in the class of 1965, laying the foundation for her future endeavors.
Patsy committed many years of her career to serving as a job trainer at Starlight School, where she made a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals. Alongside her role in education, she pursued her passion for beauty, becoming a well-respected beautician for over 40 years. She owned and operated Rosie's Beauty Shop. She was on the Indian Valley School Board for a couple of terms. Patsy was also a long-time member and 20-year president of the Midvale Club. She was also a member of the Midvale Alumni Association.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Patsy was a vibrant soul with a variety of interests. She had a particular love for creating silk flower arrangements, a hobby that brought joy to those around her. Her artistic flair and creativity shone brightly through her craft, leaving an enduring legacy that will be cherished by her family and friends.
A devoted member of the Roxford United Methodist Church in Dennison, Patsy found community and purpose in her faith, embracing the teachings and values that guided her in life. She built strong connections within her church community, reflecting her compassionate nature and commitment to service.
On September 20, 1997, she married Karl Cunningham, who survives. She also leaves behind her children; Todd (Julie) Herman of Gnadenhutten, Jamie (Julie) Herman of Coshocton, Jason (Cindy) Herman of Brewster; her step-daughter, Denise (Robert) Taylor of Hopedale; ten grandchildren; her sister, Vicki Harris of Midvale; along with her brother, John Sours of New Philadelphia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Charles Wayne Herman.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 2-4 pm. A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at Roxford Church on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 11:00 am with Brother Jim Manbeck officiating. Burial will follow at Roxford Church Cemetery.
