Otto D. Polilli Jr., age 75, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 11th, 2024, in University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center, following heart surgery.
Born November 2nd, 1948, in Dover, he was a son of the late Otto D. Sr. and Helen (Cipriano) Polilli. Otto graduated from Dover High School in 1967, and shortly afterwards, on August 17th of that year, married the former Victoria J. “Vickie” Wallick, who survives. The couple would have celebrated their 57th anniversary this coming Saturday.
For well over 30 years, he was an owner-operator truck driver for Dover’s Berner Trucking. Otto was a good man, a devoted family man and provider - his family’s rock. He cared deeply for his wife, children and grandchildren - he was always there for them. Otto had many good friends as well, he was happy to visit, and would do anything for anyone who needed help.
Otto enjoyed the outdoors, particularly looking after the yard around the family home and riding his four-wheeler. He loved slot-car racing, which was a hobby since childhood, and he had a special full-size car, a 2007 Dodge Charger, that he pampered and enjoyed on special occasions.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Vickie; his children Shelly Polilli of Dover and Otto (Carla) Polilli III of Uhrichsville; his grandchildren, Brandon Myers, Trevor (Emily Knapp) Myers, Abigail (Cason McCauley) Polilli, Otto Polilli IV, Andrew (Lacey Miller) Bethards, Colton (Kylynn Sommers) Sterling and Huey (Lexi Grove) Warner; his great-grandchildren, J.D., Callie, Brynlee, Bella, Hudson, Haisley, Aurora and Ryder; and his nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Otto was preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis and Richard Polilli.
Honoring Otto’s wishes, he will be cremated through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover, and his family will hold their own private time of remembrance.
