Norwood L. "Woody" Becker

Norwood L. “Woody” Becker, 70, of Dundee passed away at Akron General Hospital following an extended illness.

Woody was born in Dover on July 16, 1950. He was the son of the late Donald E. Sr. and Betty J. (Brown) Becker. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Barb J. (Donald) Wurzel.

He graduated with the class of 1968 from Dover High School and attended The Ohio State University. He was an avid Buckeye fan. He joined the Army Reserves in 1971, and honorably served our country until he was discharged in 1976.

He married Katherine Schatzel on January 28, 1978. Woody was a well known truck driver and traveled all over the country. Katherine traveled with him often. He retired from B & L Transport. He loved baseball and softball and was the president of the Garaway Little League for many years where he coached. He brought girls softball to Dundee. He also took pride in his lawn and loved mowing and gardening. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors.

In addition to Katherine, he leaves behind his three children; David (Dana) Csonka and Melinda (Nathan) Gintz both of Dundee and Cassaundra (William) Dietz of Akron; four grandchildren, Hunter and Jaxson Csonka, Nathan Jr. and Austyn Gintz; his sister, Jenny (Walter) Krantz of Indiana; brother, Ed (Linda) Becker of Beach City; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends are invited to call on Monday, May 3, 2021, from 5-7pm at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes & Crematory in Dover.
