Norma Jean Cope, born on March 1, 1926, at her home in Dover, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio at the age of 99. She was the daughter of the late Alfred W. and Miriam (Groh) Keller.

Norma graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1944, where she showcased her extraordinary musical talents. A prodigy on the cello, she received three scholarships and achieved remarkable success as a freshman, winning the state Championship. Her charisma and leadership shone brightly as she served as the head majorette, leaving an indelible mark on her peers and the town.

Norma dedicated much of her working life to the community, earning recognition as the “Friendliest Clerk” at Eiler's Camera Shop. Additionally, her tenure at Bond's Shoe Store in Downtown Dover many years prior further highlighted her commitment to customer service and her warm, welcoming nature. She loved socializing with friends and her customers.

Norma was known for her deep love of animals and her exceptional culinary skills. As a perfectionist, she approached all aspects of her life with an attention to detail that made every gathering a joy and every dish a delight. She loved keeping her home spotless and enjoyed decorating.

Norma will be sadly missed by her children; Robert S. “The Wiz Inc” Rees of Norton, Ohio, Shari (Doug) Strickmaker of Dover, and Peggy (John) Sibila of Dover; her grandchildren, Brian Strickmaker of Dover, and Jackie Luthy of Dover; step-grandchiildren, Kate Sibila of Cleveland, John (Becky) Sibila of Strasburg, five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her nephew, Robert Keller III.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Rees; and her husband, Jack P. Cope; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Rees; and her siblings, Robert (Judy) Keller, and Evelyn (Wally) Curtiss; and her beloved K-9 companions, BB and Buddy.
