Neva B. Ferris Grosenbacher age 85, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 23, 2021, in her home, following a long illness.
Born May 30, 1935, in Walnut Creek, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Selma Hershberger Gerber. Neva graduated at the top of her class from Walnut Creek High School, and later went to work for the Penn-Ohio Coal Company in New Philadelphia where she met her future husband, Carl H. Grosenbacher. The couple was married on August 1, 1964.
Foremost, Neva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother. In addition to her employment with Penn-Ohio, she sold jewelry and Tupperware. She belonged to Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia for over 50 years. Neva had varied interests, which included cake decorating – she won several awards at the Tuscarawas County Fair, and tooling leather. She was adventurous and enjoyed camping, fishing and shooting.
She is survived by her loving husband, Carl; her sons, Jeffrey Ferris of New Philadelphia, Rodney Ferris of Dover, and Wayne (Mary) Grosenbacher of Dennison; her two granddaughters; her seven great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandson; her sister, Lois (Bill) Shell; and her several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edison Gerber.
A private family graveside service will be held in Jerusalem Church Cemetery; Pastor Tom Hendershot will officiate. Neva's family wishes to acknowledge Crossroads Hospice and Ember Home Care for all that they have done for her during her illness – Thank You So Very Much.
