Naomi D. Baker, 99, of Dover, passed away at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover, Ohio, on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Born April 5, 1926, in Kenmore, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Bessie (Young) Huff. Naomi graduated from Dover High School in the Class of 1944.
She married Irvin R. Baker on June 15, 1947, he preceded her in death on December 12, 1987.
Naomi was well known in the community as a longtime restaurant owner. She was the co-owner of the Downtown Restaurant in Dover and the Indian Valley Restaurant for many years, where she welcomed generations of customers with warmth and hospitality.
A devoted member of the Dover Alliance Church, Naomi was deeply involved in church life. She participated in the Ladies Missionary and Prayer Fellowship, sang in the ladies’ trio, and faithfully served the congregation as head Deaconess. Her faith and commitment to serving others were central to her life.
Naomi enjoyed spending quiet time cross-stitching and working word puzzles, hobbies that reflected her patience and attention to detail.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, David (Becky) Baker of New Philadelphia; her grandson, Paul (Denise) Baker; her great-grandson, Maxwell (Grace) Baker; her great-great-granddaughter, Eloise Baker, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Ellen Baker; her two brothers, Willard Huff and Hubert Huff; and her sister, Leto Yarman.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 am. A celebration of Naomi’s life will take place at 11:00 with Pastor Rick Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Dover Burial Park. A meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
