Michael J. Spillman, 60, of New Philadelphia passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 in the Community Hospice Truman House following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on September 19, 1961 in Canton, Mike was a son of Bill Spillman of Canton and the late Gladys Corey Spillman. In addition to his father, Mike is also survived by his wife of 31 years, Stacey Steinbaugh Spillman whom he married on May 26, 1990; children, Kayla (Joe) Wagner of Chandlersville, Clint Spillman, Krystal Spillman both of New Philadelphia; brothers, Craig (Janis) Spillman of Chandlersville, Doug (Abby) Spillman of Dover; three grandchildren, Caden, Colten and Casen.
Mike was currently employed at Tusky Valley High School as the Transportation and Buildings/Grounds Supervisor, starting in May of 2014. He previously served as a supervisor, welder, and truck driver for Eagle Machinery and Stark Truss, as well as, being a trustee for Sandy Township. Mike had a real love for everything outdoors, especially farming, hunting, trap shooting, tractor pulls and working in his vegetable garden.
A service celebrating Mike’s life will be held on Friday, December 17th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Richard Harvey officiating. Interment will be in the German Cemetery. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
