Mary A. Short

Mary A. Short, 78, of Dover, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Born August 27, 1947, in Dennison to the late Jacob and Mary Wright Mann. Mary was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Wayne Short, on August 25, 2020, as well as her grandson Tyler Moore; brothers, Jake, Keith, and Arthur Mann, and sisters, Barb Anslow, Alice Dillow, and Helen Burkhart.

For over 34 years, Mary was a cook at the Junction Restaurant in Strasburg, followed by 12 years at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover until her retirement. In her spare time, she found joy in puzzles, word searches, and tending to her flower garden.

She is survived by her children, Mary Jean (Tracy) Cook of Midvale, Wayne (Michel) Short of Dover, and Brenda (Eric Sowell) Cochran of Columbus; brother, Kenny (Linda) Mann of Roswell; sister-in-law, Donna Mann of Barnhill; brother-in-law, James Dillow of West Virginia; grandchildren, Jenniffer, Nicole, Joshua, Nathan, Dakota, Rachel, and Daniel; and eight great-grandchildren.

Cremation has been entrusted to Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 2:00 p.m. in the Dover Burial Park, with Steve Slater officiating.
