Mary A. Kerns

Mary A. Kerns, 82, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, March 10, 2003 in Union Hospital following a short illness.

She retired from Union Hospital where she had worked as a nurse�(TM)s aide.

Born December 10, 1920 at New Phila., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Sarah Walter Myers.

Mary was a 1938 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. In addition to her work at the hospital, she had also volunteered at area nursing homes.

Survivors include: a daughter; Claire Cowfer of Wadsworth, two sons; Robert Kerns of Dover and Daniel Kerns of New Philadelphia, four grandchildren; Jerry, Cathy, Melanie and Jessica, six great grandchildren; David, Michael, Daniel, Brian, Brittany and Donald, two sisters; Lilah McClain of Lake Charles, LA and Edna Wemple of Bryan, OH.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by: two sons; Russell, Jr. and Thomas and four brothers; Paul, Herman, Carl and Raymond.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, at 3:00pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Cremation will follow services. Friends may call in the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00pm until time of services at 3:00pm.
