Marlene M. Parson, 88, of Massillon, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Inn at University Village in Massillon.

Born on June 7, 1937, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Rose Cardani Ionno. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Parson, on March 13, 1985.

Marlene retired in 1994 from AAA in Canton after 15 years of service. A longtime active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she sang in the choir for many years and belonged to the Central Catholic Mothers Club. She enjoyed puzzles, macrame, knitting, baking (especially Christmas cookies), and various crafts.

She is survived by her sons, James Parson of Dover, John (Cheryl) Parson of Massillon, Jeff (Andrea) Parson of Florida, and Joe (Alix) Parson of Georgia; her brother, Fred Ionno of Massillon; grandchildren Noah and Seth Parson, Kaylee Jeter, Carime Gardner, and Nich Parson; great-granddaughter Rosalene DeMando; and several nieces.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. The family will receive friends at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Tuesday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
