Born in Akron, Ohio on March 31, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Hartley J. Pierce, Jr. and Lois Lutz Pierce.
Married to the love of her life, Thomas Hugh MacKay, the two met at Ashland College during Louise’s freshman year and were inseparable for 52 years. They were married at Westminster Presbyterian Church – where Louise was raised and spent many Sundays with her family in Akron, Ohio. The two enjoyed an Alaskan Cruise, Hawaiian sunsets, the beat of fife & drums, and so much more.
An avid student graduating from Centerville High School in 1969 going on to Ashland College and Hartford Community College to continue her journey of knowledge. The skills she learned were put to use in the multiple hats she wore during her 30 year tenure at JCB. This would also pave the way for her time at MADD as not only Chapter President but State Treasurer and all the countless hours she spent volunteering there.
Louise enjoyed spending time in many ways including gardening, puzzle solving, reading, cross stitching, fishing, quilting, cooking with family and friends, singing and listening to good music, or discovering the rich history of the world.
Her life was devoted to her family and friends. Her kind heart and compassion made her easy to talk to. Her words of wisdom were found comforting to those she touched. Louise had an infectious smile and laughter that could light up a room much like her father, H.J. Pierce.
She leaves behind so many that loved her including her husband Thomas MacKay, daughter Katherine “Katie” MacKay, sister Nancy Pierce Riel, sister- in- law Karol MacKay, nephews David MacKay, Grant MacKay, Jason Riel, and her niece Erin Riel Price along with their families.
In addition to her daughter, Susan MacKay, Louise was preceded in death by her parents and her four-legged children that brought so much joy to her life.
