Laura Colvin, 79, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Amberwood Manor in New Philadelphia.
Born on December 20, 1946, in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Bodine and Nora (Edward) Lanning. Laura was a graduate of Dover High School. On May 18, 1968, she married Lawrence Colvin, with whom she shared nearly 54 years of marriage before his passing on January 17, 2022.
Throughout her life, Laura worked at the former Danner Press in Canton and Miller Studio in New Philadelphia. However, one of her greatest joys was spending time with children. She was well known for babysitting and had a special way of making children feel loved and welcome. Laura especially looked forward to the fall season and Halloween, when she could pass out candy to trick-or-treaters. The holidays were also a favorite time of year because they gave her more opportunities to be surrounded by children and share in their excitement.
Laura loved roller skating, especially because it allowed her to spend time with young people. When her sons were growing up, she enjoyed being involved in their activities and served as a Cub Scout den mother. She also had a lifelong love for horses and animals and enjoyed capturing special moments through photography.
Laura was also a woman of strong faith, which remained an important part of her life. She attended First Moravian Church in Dover.
She is survived by her two sons, David (Aundrea) Colvin of Athens and Andrew (Melodie) Colvin of New Philadelphia; and her three grandsons, Tristan, Carter, and Parker, who brought her much joy.
In addition to her husband and parents, Laura was preceded in death by her stepfather; her sister, Carol Kaserman; and her brother, William Bodine.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 with Pastor David Wing officiating.
