Lana A. O'Brien, a beloved figure in her community and cherished matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Born on September 13, 1942, in Gnadenhutten, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Reichman) Ault. Lana dedicated her life not only to her career but also to her family and country.

Lana served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, showcasing her commitment to her country. After her military service, she devoted 35 years to the US Postal Service in New Philadelphia, from which she retired in 2011. Her work ethic and dedication were evident in all that she did, modelling a spirit of perseverance and integrity for those around her.

Above all, Lana was a devoted mother and grandmother who found immense joy in her children and grandchildren. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she took great pride in guiding and nurturing them through their journeys. Her warmth, wisdom, and laughter will be profoundly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William O’Brien, and three brothers, Richard, Ronald, David, and Rodney Ault, and her sister, Elaine Beamer.

She leaves behind her children; Kim Devlinger of Illinois, Bridget (Chad) Rider of Illinois, Michelle Devney of New Philadelphia, Theresa (Chris) Cannon of Georgia, Richard (Lettie) O'Brien of California, Victoria Cole (Ron Swegheimer) of Byesville, and Elizabeth Thompson of New Philadelphia; her sisters, Doris Hina of Zanesville, Marilyn (Ken) Burgess of New Philadelphia, Joan Horsfall of New Philadelphia; two brothers, James Ault of New Philadelphia; along with her beloved 17 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place at the funeral home on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Borton officiating. Interment will be held at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover, where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors.
