Karen J. Nugo

Karen J. Nugo, 82, of New Philadelphia passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025 in the Ohio's Hospice Truman House.

Born on November 1, 1942 in Dover she was a daughter of the late Dennis Sr. and Dorothy Clay May. Karen was also preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Nugo Jr. on February 20, 2000; son, Matthew Nugo; grandson, Michael Nugo; brother, Dennis May Jr.; and sister, Bonnie May.

With a multifaceted career, she made significant contributions as a licensed practical nurse at Mercy Hospital; was also a passionate entrepreneur, having owned both Tandy Leather and Nu Kare Carpet Cleaning. She was a member of Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia and participated in the Mary Martha Circle. Her influence extended to the American Business Women’s Association, the New Philadelphia Elks, and the VFW Auxiliary, where she served as Treasurer for many years. Additionally, she was a 4-H advisor. A devoted wife, she and her husband shared a love for golf, and both took pride in holding their pilots' licenses—a testament to their adventurous spirits and shared enjoyment of life’s journey.

She is survived by her children, Melissa Cappillo of Zoarville, Michelle (Terry) Fox of Dover, Mary Ann Nugo of New Philadelphia; brother, David (Connie) May of New Philadelphia; sister, Linda (David) Hykes of Garfield Heights; six grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23rd starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor David Wing officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
