Karen G. Pace, 77, of New Philadelphia passed away at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital on Saturday, September 25, 2021, following a period of declining health.


Born on September 15, 1944, at her home outside of New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Margaret (Richards) Browning. She was also preceded in death by her five brothers and three sister-in-laws: Norman “Buck” (Peggy) Browning Jr., Edward (Betty) Browning, John (Norma) Browning, Vernon Eugene “Gene” Browning, and Carl Browning.


Karen graduated from New Philadelphia High School with the class of 1962. She worked at Union Hospital in the Radiology Department for 48 years. While there, she started her career as an x-ray technician and later became an x-ray instructor and an ultrasound technician; she finished her career as the assistant manager of the department.


On December 3, 1966, she married Joseph Pace Jr., who survives. She also leaves behind her three children: Matt Pace of Bolivar, Luke (Melissa) Pace of New Philadelphia, and Amy Pace (Steve Simpson) of Dover; her grandchildren: Alyssa (Kurt) Host, Ethan Pace, Caleb Pace, Jared Pace, Tyler Dozier, Zachary Dozier, and Steven Simpson; two great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Gail Browning; along with many nieces and nephews.


She enjoyed canning, baking, painting ceramics, genealogy, gardening, traveling, and time with her family and friends.



In honoring her wishes, cremation has been entrusted by the family with Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A graveside service will take place at St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 10:00 am with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Friends are invited to gather at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center for a meal provided by the family and a time of fellowship following the service.
