Judy A. Plunk, 87, of Dover, passed away peacefully at Park Village on Sunday, July 26, 2026 after a brief illness.
Born on March 31, 1939, in Dover, Judy was the daughter of the late Tom Douds and June (Graber) Pritchard. She was a 1957 graduate of Dover High School.
On December 28, 1957, she married Lee A. Plunk. Together they shared more than 63 years of marriage before Lee preceded her in death on April 30, 2021.
In 1965, Judy and Lee founded Hillcrest Garden Center in Dover. Through years of hard work and dedication, they built the business into a well-known and respected family enterprise, serving generations of customers throughout the community until they sold the business in 2003 due to Lee's failing health.
Judy was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dover. She will be remembered for her strong work ethic, sense of humor, devotion to her family, and the many friendships she cultivated through both her church and the family business. Judy lived life to the beat of her own drum and would often quote Frank Sinatra, saying she always did it "My Way" - which she did right up to the very end.
Judy is survived by her sister Susan (Douds) McClelland of California; children, Jeff (Teresa) Plunk of California, Mike (Beth) Plunk of Florida, Laurie (Kerry) Donahue of Ohio, and Steve Plunk of Maryland; her grandchildren, Jason (Cassie) Plunk of California and Ashley (Gabe) Plunk of Florida; one great-granddaughter Sophie Plunk of California; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
A private graveside service will take place at Dover Burial Park where she will be laid to rest in the family plot. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover is helping the family with arrangements. To sign an online guestbook, visit the obituary link on the funeral home's website. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Dover.
The family would like to thank the caring and competent staff at Park Village Dover, Cleveland Clinic - Union Hospital, and Smith Ambulance, all of whom helped keep her safe and comfortable in her final days.
