Joseph Allen "Joe" Weaver, a cherished member of the Dover community, passed away in Dover, Ohio, on April 29, 2025.
Born on January 10, 1940, at his family home, Joe lived a fulfilling life marked by his dedication to family, career, and community. He was the son of the late Robert G. and Armilla (Maybaugh) Weaver. On August 24, 1968, he married Dolores Jean (Perko) Weaver. They were happily married for 44 years, enjoying vacations and time spent with their children and grandchildren, before she preceded him in death on October 31, 2012.
Joe retired from the Timken Company after an impressive 35 years, where he worked his way up to analyst at Timken Research. His commitment to excellence was evident in all his professional endeavors.
An avid farmer, Joe’s greatest passion was tending to his family farm. He cherished the time spent farming with his Grandpa Willie, his dad, Robert, his brothers, Ed and Sam, and particularly his son, Mike, who worked side by side with Joe for over 40 years, starting when Mike was old enough to lend a hand. Joe and Mike shared fond memories of attending train shows and farm auctions together. Joe also had an interest in collecting American Flyer Trains since he was a young boy.
Joe graduated from St. Joseph High School in the class of 1958 and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1962 until 1965, honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 5th class. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, and the final member of the Men's Breakfast Club, where he enjoyed camaraderie and connection with fellow members. Joe was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the Zoar Road Gun Club.
Joe was passionate about family gatherings, reunions, and imparting cherished family history to his grandchildren. Joe reveled in the accomplishments of his farm, taking delight in checking on the cows and the beloved farm dogs. He enjoyed gardening and was particularly fond of growing sweet corn and potatoes, as well as maintaining his flowerbeds and yard. Joe had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found great joy in his neighborhood friendships, particularly his lifelong friendship with Guy Zeigler.
