John J. Festi

John J. Festi, 93, of Dover, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

Born on March 31, 1932, in Dover, he was a son of the late Illuminato "John" and Margaret (Zambotti) Festi. John was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty Festi on May 29, 2005; brothers, Lee, Virgil, Ralph, Lou, and Frank Festi; sister Lena Antonelli; nephews, Ralph Festi Jr., David Festi, and Jeff Mallernee; and niece Rhonda Mann.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his discharge, John worked at Belmont Stamping in New Philadelphia, Lindsay's Service Station in Dover, and retired in 1997 from Moomaw Chevrolet in Sugarcreek after 39 years of service..

An avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns, he enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and was a dedicated bowler, competing in the Sugarcreek Industrial League. He especially liked keeping up with his grandchildren's school and athletic activities.

Survivors include his children, Gayle Holland and Holly (Roger) Stephens, both of Dover, and John (Cindy) Festi of Sugarcreek; grandchildren Mason Swartzel, John (Shawnda) Holland, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Holland, Matthew (Sallee) Holland, Andreina (Jake) Fox, Nathaniel Festi, Spencer (Erica) Festi, Elicia (Alex) Grunder, and Justin (Krystel) Roth; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has been entrusted to Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover.

A service celebrating John's life will be held Tuesday, December 23, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor David Wing officiating. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Following the memorial service, the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military services.
