Joe T. Lang, age 92, a lifelong resident of Dover, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, in his home.
Born June 10, 1930, he was the son of the late Hector A. and Rose Burkhart Lang. Joe graduated from Dover High School and went on to serve honorably with the United States Air Force in the Korean War. On September 14, 1957, two years after his discharge, he married the former Kathleen Y. Brink. The couple had three children and shared nearly 58 years of marriage prior to Kathleen’s passing on July 15, 2015. Joe and Kathleen owned and operated Lang’s Greenhouse in Dover for over 40 years. Later, in retirement, Joe worked with his friend, Richard Endres, in Richard’s business, Floral Packaging Company of Dover.
Joe was a devoted family man and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, the American Legion and Brandywine Grange, all of Dover.
He is survived by his children, Rose Marie Burrier (Tom) Baxter of Baltic, and Kathy Jo (John) Coy of White Oak, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Kevin, Eric, David, Heather and Nicholas; his great-grandchildren, Jayvin, Ethan, Nolan, Paizleigh, James, Liam, Mackenzie, Kialer and Ireland; and his nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, and his beloved wife, Kathleen, Joe was preceded in death by his son, Joe T. Lang Jr., and his sister, Rose Phillips.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Thursday, January 19, 1 - 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2, officiated by Community Hospice Chaplain Terry Wilcox. Military rites will be conducted. Burial will be later, after cremation, in Dover Burial Park.
