Jerry L. Wemple

Jerry L. Wemple, age 89, of New Philadelphia, passed away on May 3, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, surrounded by his family.

Born on September 18, 1936, in New Philadelphia, Jerry was the son of the late McKinney and Myrtle (Warner) Wemple. He was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School, where he proudly played football and was a member of a team that received special honors.

Jerry was married to Patricia Marshall Wemple, who preceded him in death in 1981. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Ralph and Donald Wemple, and his brother-in-law, Jerry Regula.

He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially the time he spent fishing and hunting. Above all, Jerry cherished attending his grandchildren’s events and supporting them in all they did.

He leaves behind his wife, Sandra Regula Hanenkrat Wemple; his children, Jamie Welker of New Philadelphia, Jerry (Paula) Wemple of New Philadelphia, Jeff Hanenkrat of Dover, Wendy (Bobby) Taylor of Dover, Michele (Darrell) Larkin of Dover, Michael (Donna) Hanenkrat of Alabama; grandchildren, Erik (Mae), Chris, Jennifer (Adam), Ryan (Kim), Stevi Lynn, Jeffery (Elizabeth), Breanne, Jenn (Rodney), Natalie (Mickey), Nicole (Matthew), Andrew (Natalie); 23 great-grandchildren and he had another on the way; his half brother and sisters in-law, Sally, Rhonda, and Ronnie; along with his canine companion, Ruben.
