Jerry L. Warner, age 86, of Dover, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024, in Dover’s Park Village Health Care Center.

Born August 6, 1938, in Dover, Jerry was the son of the late Carl and Edna (Devore) Warner. He graduated from Dover High School in 1957, and, on December 20, 1958, married the former Gloria A. Kerr, who survives. Jerry went on to serve honorably with the United States Army. Following his discharge, he was employed by General Telephone & Electronics Corporation where he worked for 34 years, retiring as a senior field engineer. 

Jerry was a member of Dover First Moravian Church; Dover Lodge No. 59 F. & A.M.; Dover Lodge No. 975 B.P.O.E. - having served as Past Exalted Ruler; New Philadelphia Lodge No. 510 B.P.O.E. - having served as Past Exalted Ruler; Dover American Legion - having served as Commander; 40 et 8 - having served as Commander; and the Dover V.F.W. - serving with the Veterans Honor Guard.

He gave his time and talent freely to the community as President of the Dover City Council, Electrical Inspector for the City of Dover, and founder of the Dover Shade Tree Commission. Jerry was a volunteer firefighter, a Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Reserves lieutenant, and founder and captain of the Dover Police Auxiliary. He traveled around the United States on a pistol team representing the Dover Police Department and the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and received numerous awards for his accuracy and skill. Jerry also took care of Dover Football sideline communications for 45 years. 

Aside from all of his labors, which were enjoyable to Jerry, some of his favorite pastimes were playing golf, hunting, working with wood and gardening.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Gloria, his sons, Mike (Rachel) Warner of Sherrodsville, and Jeffrey (Lisa Adamich) Warner of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Gabriel (Lynn) Warner, Amber (Greg) Smith, Stacie (Nishan) Davidian and Chance (Kary) Warner; his 12 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Gene (Sally) and Robert (Carol) Warner; his sister, Marla (Tony Lynch) Fait; his sister-in-law, Jeanette Warner; and his nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Warner; his sisters, Debra Warner and Sandra Kay Trikilis; and his brothers, Thomas and John Warner. 

Private services will be held followed by burial in Dover Burial Park.
