Jerry L. Poland, 75, of Dover passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
Born December 20, 1945 in Cambridge, Ohio he was a son of the late Lloyd and Ruby Moorehead Poland. Jerry was also preceded in death by his brother, Tom Poland.
Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Cambridge High School, received his associates degree in nursing from Ohio University, and was a graduate of the Ohio State School of Allied Medicine. He retired as a Nurse Anesthetist having been a partner with Coshocton Anesthesia Associates Inc. for many years. He was a past board member of the Tuscarawas County Humane Society and was a member of the Elks Club, and the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. Jerry was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather who loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren, they were the center of his world. A close second to his grandchildren would be his dogs; Jerry had a real love for animals. A Dover Tornado through and through, he was an avid fan of Dover Football, as well as, rooting for the Browns, Reds and the Buckeyes.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Reeves Poland, whom he married on May 7, 1966; children, Brian (Melissa) Poland of Poland, Ohio, Jill Poland, Mike (Autumn) Poland both of Dover; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Ryan), Jacob, Emma, Samantha, Sydney, Mitchell, Owen, Paige; great granddaughter, Siana; and many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held. A public celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Sunday, November 7th at the Hoodletown Brewery (time will be announced later). The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements.
