Jerry L. Froman, 82, of Dover died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in the Community Hospice Truman House.
He was born on April 15, 1939 in Dover and was a son of the late Richard and Ruth Herzig Froman. Jerry was also preceded in death by his brother, Dick Froman and his sister, Sue Maybaugh. Jerry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Rosenberry Froman; children, Jeff (Amy) Froman, Greg (Brenda) Froman both of Strasburg; grandchildren, Abby (Ethan) Edie, Ryan (Molli) Froman, Nick Froman, Ashley Froman, Laura Froman and Zach Froman.
Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Strasburg High School where he excelled at football, basketball, baseball and track having earned 12 varsity letters during his career. He was inducted into the Strasburg Sports Hall of Fame in 2020. After graduating high school, he proudly served his country with the United States Army; and following his discharge he was employed at the Timken Co. in Canton where he retired after 35 years of service. While working at Timken, he also held jobs with Dover City Schools driving a school bus, and had been a Reserve Sheriff’s Deputy with the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Department. But the most import part of his life was his family, especially following his grandchildren with all of their school and sporting activities; whatever the weather you could always find Jerry and Linda rooting for their grandchildren. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed a round of golf and playing cards with his family and friends.
Private graveside services will be held at the Dover Burial Park. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover is handling arrangements. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Jerry may do so by visiting the online obituaries link on the funeral home’s website.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Strasburg Booster Club at 140 North Bodmer Ave., Strasburg, Ohio 44680.
