Jerome L. “Jim” Kaiser, age 93, of Strasburg, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025, in Ohio’s Hospice Truman House, New Philadelphia, from complications following a recent emergency surgery.
Born January 10, 1932, near Woodsfield in Monroe County, he was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Hughes) Kaiser. Jim attended a one-room school nearby, but he had to leave his formal education behind to help on the family farm. He wed the former Verda L. Stephen on September 15, 1956. The couple moved to Tuscarawas County, had three children, and shared nearly 68 years of marriage prior to Verda’s passing on July 24, 2024.
Jim was employed by the Robinson Clay Product Company, later Minteq International, in Parral for 46 years, from which he retired. He was a proud union member of the United Brick and Clay Workers of America. Jim liked being outdoors and, for years, had a large garden. He was meticulous in caring for the yard around his home and enjoyed spending time on his mower. Jim was also a classic automobile enthusiast, owning many over the years, and was a self-described “Ford man.”
Above all, family time was important to Jim; his grandchildren and great-granddaughter were very special to him. His survivors include his children, Steve (Heidi) Kaiser of Strasburg, and Missey (Kelly) Hart of Dover; his grandchildren, Zach (Jen) Kaiser, Kasey (fiancé, Ryan Lehman) Kaiser, and Jeffrey Weaver; his great-granddaughter, McKenna Kaiser; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Klett Kaiser; his sister, Ruth Rogers; and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Verda, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Rickie “Rick” Kaiser, and his four sisters and three brothers, Dorothy “Sis,” Justine, Margie, Rosemary, Bill, Bert, and Otto.
Family and friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, December 31, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11:30, officiated by Rev. Matthew Wald. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park.
The family suggests that contributions in Jim’s memory be made to Ohio’s Hospice Truman House, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
