Janet L. Murray

Janet Murray, age 84, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the Ohio’s Hospice Truman House.

Janet was born on August 18, 1942 in Canton to the late Hazel (Wallick) and Fredrick Kaelin. On November 10, 1961, she married the late Elden Murray, who passed on April 12, 1972. Janet dedicated more than thirty years of service to Dover Post office as a rural post carrier.

Janet will be remembered for her love of sports, her active spirit, and the many interests that brought joy to her life. Her love of athletics began in her youth, when she played softball, and continued throughout her life. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling well into her 80s, demonstrating a lifelong enthusiasm for staying active and enjoying the things she loved. Janet was a devoted fan of Cleveland sports, especially the Cavaliers, and she also enjoyed following Ohio State football and basketball. Whether cheering on her favorite teams or keeping up with the latest games, sports remained a special part of her life.

Beyond sports, Janet found happiness in gardening and canning. She enjoyed the satisfaction of tending her garden and preserving its harvest, carrying on the simple, rewarding traditions of making good use of what the seasons provided.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Mark (Denise), Todd, and Corey Murray; her grandchildren, Joseph (Emily) Murray, Jacob (Sammi) Murray, Justin (fiance, Grace) Murray; her great-grandchildren, Eloise, Benjamin, Everli, Bodhi, and Cambri; and her brother, Larry Kaelin.

In addition to her parents and husband, Janet was preceded in death by her son, Donald Murray; granddaughter, Jenna Murray; and her sister, Sandra Harmon.

Per Janet’s wishes, she will be quietly laid to rest at Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens next to her husband and son. Those wishing may leave an online condolence for the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
