James L. "Jim" Limbacher, born on May 18, 1948, in Dover, Ohio, passed away on September 3, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton. He was the son of the late Walter and Vera (Jenkins) Limbacher.

Jim lived a life rich in experience and dedicated service, which he approached with unwavering passion and the spirit of a good debate.

A proud graduate of Strasburg High School, class of 1967, Jim continued his academic journey at Kent State University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science in 1981. His education laid the foundation for a career that included many years of dedicated work at Republic Steel. Further showcasing his commitment to the local community, he also spent many productive years at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Jim honorably served in the United States Air Force, a testament to his strong sense of duty and patriotism. Those who knew him would attest to his fervent personality and his love for engaging in thoughtful discussions, whether over a cup of coffee or during spirited gatherings with friends and family.

Jim had a deep appreciation for sports, particularly enjoying the thrill of watching the Strasburg Tigers, reflecting his lifelong connection to his hometown. He also loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, Guardians, and Cavaliers.

He is survived by his brother, Gary (Carolyn) Limbacher of Marion, Ohio, and his niece, Pamela (Samuel) Kuhr of Dayton.

His family would like to express their great appreciation to his friend, Jeannine Kennedy, who helped keep an eye on him throughout the years. They also want to give thanks to New Dawn Nursing Home and McKinley Health Care Center for the compassionate care he received.

In honoring his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Strasburg. A graveside service will take place at Grandview Union Cemetery. The date and time are pending.

James L. Limbacher leaves behind a legacy rooted in his love for debate, his dedication to community, and his enthusiasm for life. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His family suggests that a memorial donation be made in his memory to the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, 461 Robinson Dr. SE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, or the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
